Our July is defined as a month of new practices for community cohesion.
KhSA: Returning – Exhibition of the Year 2024
ЗMIN has consistently worked with the Kharkiv School of Architecture providing scholarships for students. As usual, we have met at the Returning exhibition. It displays over 250 student works made in 2023-24 academic year. We had a great opportunity to be introduced to the works through stories and a tour offered by the ЗMIN supported students.
KhSA: student internships at Kostomarova Street
One of this year's internships of the 1st and 2nd-year students at the KhSA, “URBAN STUDIES: TOOLS AND METHODS,” had an objective to study various tools to explore the urban fabric and space. The Kostomarova Street in Lviv was the object of research. As a result, the students developed several project proposals that include the signage of the sidewalk widening and making a bench and a flowerpot with wild grasses for residents of the building. You can find a full version of proposals on the website, or in the courtyard at 39 Franka Street. :)
Workshop of culture practitioners “Calendar of Culture”
In July, the third iteration took place of the project Workshop of Culture Practitioners, the Calendar of Culture. Participants and trainers tried to change a usual view on a calendar and focus on how it came up in culture, and how it divides the flow of time into profane and festive, into collective and private (“beginning” and “end” of time). The training resulted in a presentation of project concepts to celebrate the Independence Day in local communities.
Lviv Urban Forum: “Taking Responsibility”
In July, ЗMIN continued the support to capacity building of the LUF team for sustainability and cohesion in working with communities. We appreciate seeing urban activists attracted to the project and empowering this area.
MuMi: the launch of testing the third edition of the quest “Like a Fish in the City. Znesinnia”
During the Lviv Urban Forum, the team had a test quest “Like a Fish in the City” around Znesinnia area. This time, the quest offered a bonus of the comic strip created jointly by MuMi and UA Comix. Stay tuned for updates on the new “swimming race” by checking the social media of the Museum of the City.
